Comprises items relating to the war service of Harold Lowe, including a soldier's pay book, 1915-1916; his service record, 1919; a statement of account which gives details of his earnings throughout the war, 1919; a ration book; and a label from a tin of Fray Bentos brand bully beef issued at Gallipoli and used by Lowe as a Christmas card to Leo Fifer, 1915. Also, items relating to Hughie Lowe, comprising a letter to his mother by a chaplain, D.M. Kay, written in Alexandria, Egypt, regarding Hughie's death; and an obituary entitled The late Mr Hughie Lowe, by a fellow-employee.

The Lowe brothers came from Gardenvale, Vic. Alexander Harold Lowe (no. 1053), known as Harold, enlisted on 8 March 1915, served with the 23rd and 24th Battalions, and was repatriated to Australia on 25 Sept. 1919. Initially a Private, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant on 21 Nov. 1917. Born in Scotland, Hugh Mosman Lowe (no. 1053) enlisted on 19 Oct. 1914, served as a Private with the 9th Battalion, and died of wounds on 3 June 1915. He received his fatal injuries at Gallipoli.
